Have fun. Be better!
Student Jams
We invite you to join in and have fun playing with other students.

There will be somewhere between 6 to 8 students in each group. The students in each group will be of a similar level The session won’t be purely jamming. With a tutor on hand there will be help for your own instrument as well as help in learning how to perform in a band situation.

The benefits of this jamming will be to sharpen your own playing, make you learn songs all the way through, as well as learning how to play in a band. During your weekly lesson we mostly work on your individual skills, the jams will help develop your interactive skills. It also helps to build your confidence of playing in front of other people. So when you ant to pay for family and friends you'll feel more relaxed and confident.
The jam will be a full band thing – vocals, guitar bass and drums.

Each session will be for 1 hour and will cost $10.00 per student.

These jams will also be used as a stepping stone for students to join in the concert. Be involved in our bands and perform in front of an audience. There is plenty of practice and rehearsal to make sure you have a good time.

Practicing

Make sure you are well practiced before the jams.

Work hard on your songs. Learn the sections. Learn the arrangement. You can still use your books when we play but aim to almost know the songs off by heart.

Performers must be totally practiced and prepared for their session. Remember, you are playing with other musicians now, so any time you take to figure things out that you could have practiced, it's time out of their day as well. This also means turning up to your session early e.g. 10-15 minutes before the start time.

Why it is useful

These jam sessions are a great first step for those who are looking to put all their practice to use. You get to play with other students of the same level, and being able to play confidently with other musicians is a great skill to have as a musician.

The sessions are held right here at Bandwagon, so the atmosphere is very relaxed. This way you don’t have to worry about nerves and you can focus on your playing and having fun.
It's very rewarding to see what you can do with all that practice and get some valuable experience while you do it.
